Built for students

Your semester, already in your calendar.

Upload your course outline. We find the dates, you check anything that needs a look, then copy them to Google Calendar or download an .ics file.

PDF, PNG or JPEG · First 2 outlines free

Example: SemCal finds the dates in a course outline. Quiz 1 on Tuesday, October 6, Lab report 1 on Friday, October 9, Lab 2 on Wednesday, October 14 and Lab 3 on Wednesday, October 28 land on the October calendar. The midterm's date is still to be announced, so it is flagged for you to fill in and stays off the calendar.

Check every date before it lands.

  • Every event listed with its date, time and type
  • Anything incomplete is flagged for review
  • Edit, add or delete events before you export

Nothing lands without your say.

  • Events that need details must be fixed before you export
  • Copy to a new Google Calendar, or download an .ics file for Apple Calendar or Outlook
  • A one-time copy, not a live sync: if a deadline changes, update it in your calendar
  • Files are processed securely and used only to provide the service as described in our Privacy Policy.

How extraction usage works

An extraction counts when your outline is accepted for processing. Reviewing, editing, and exporting an existing result do not use another extraction.

Free extractions used earlier in the same UTC month count toward that month's Pro allowance after upgrading. Pro usage keeps your unused Free allowance available.

See the usage terms for processing failures and cancellation details.

Questions, answered.

Can I turn a syllabus PDF into calendar events?

Yes. Upload a syllabus or course outline as a PDF, PNG, or JPEG. SemCal extracts events for you to check against the source. Review uncertain dates, times, and recurring schedules before exporting.

Can I review and edit the dates before exporting?

Yes. Review the extracted events, edit their details, and add or remove events before you copy or download your calendar. Resolve any flagged issues and check that the dates and timezone match your course outline.

Does SemCal work with Apple Calendar and Outlook?

Yes. Download the reviewed events as an ICS file to import into Apple Calendar or Outlook. You can also copy them directly to a new Google Calendar. These are copies or file imports, not an updating calendar subscription.

Is SemCal free to try?

Yes. The Free plan includes 2 outline extractions total as a one-time allowance; it does not reset monthly. Reviewing, editing, and exporting an existing result do not use another extraction. See Pricing for Pro and its current terms.

Will my calendar update if my instructor changes a deadline?

No. A Google Calendar copy or imported ICS file does not automatically update when your instructor changes a deadline. SemCal does not continuously sync with your LMS. Check course announcements and update the events in your calendar; importing again can create duplicates.
